Seeking the Logos with Maximus: Can We Do Philosophy Christocentrically?

Abstract

Christopher-Marcus Gibson examines how Maximus the Confessor reconfigures philosophy as a Christocentric pursuit of wisdom grounded in the divine Logos. Gibson argues that the logoi of created beings are expressions of God’s will and self-knowledge, fulfilled in Christ. Integrating metaphysics, ascetic practice, and theology, this study shows that philosophical inquiry attains completion only through participation in the incarnate Logos and the divine economy of creation, redemption, and deification.
