Abstract

Margaret McCarthy explores a "new ressourcement" that retrieves the "paradoxical" God of Jesus Christ to affirm the integrity of the temporal world. By flipping traditional theological directions, she argues that revelation's account of creation secures the world's goodness as "not-God". McCarthy highlights the secular laity’s role in restoring creation's original value, warning that an over-clericalized or world-conformed Church risks losing its transformative mystical character.
