Abstract

Bruno M. Shah, OP, unfolds the way heroical Christianity and contemplative commitment prove essential to Maritain’s philosophical and evangelical vision of democracy, offering prospects of intellectual and social renewal. For the French philosopher, the modern bourgeois liberal order is on its last legs, providing opportunity and incentive for radical Christian renewal of secular society.
